“In the final analysis, love is not merely an emotional something. Love is creative, understanding goodwill for all men. It is the refusal to defeat any individual.
When you rise to the level of love, of its great beauty and power, you seek only to defeat evil systems.
Individuals who happen to be caught up in that system, you love, but you seek to defeat the system.”

So very true and so very meaningful to me. This man had some of the wisest words ever spoken.

I wanted to be a journalist in High School because politics was such a heavy topic at that time. I envy those who were in the thick of things in that era. here is a link to a post on my site that you might enjoy. There is a link, if you click on MLK’s picture, that takes you to a series of videos done by Rolling Stone magazine’s video site. They are commemorating MLK’s August 28, 2013, 50th Anniversary of The March on Washington. You might find these interesting.

Thanks for sharing such moving and truthful words, Deborah. If only more people thought like this, the world would be a better place. To love is to work together as a whole instead of individually trying to defeat the system. When we can all understand and appreciate each others’ human characteristics and accomplishments, then we are one step closer to that universal love Dr. King dreamed about.
